CorClub took a Creation Tour in October 2019, to experience the much talked about Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY.
At our first stop in Indianapolis, members took a river gondola ride through downtown. After was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the largest sporting venue in the world with seating for more than 235,000 and infield seating that raises capacity to 400,000.
Our next stop was the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. The full-size Noah's Ark, built from dimensions given in the Bible, is the largest timber frame structure in the world and spans 510 feet long and 51 feet high. The Creation Museum boasts biblical exhibits, gardens, and much more.
As we journeyed on, we stopped at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. Greeted with a big bat outside the factory, guests enjoyed memorabilia from every sports team and learned about bats of famous players.
Finally, we stopped at the Grotto in West Bend, IA. We knew we were getting close to South Dakota as the wind was blowing! The guide presented a lot of interesting information about he history of how the Grotto was built and the origin behind its erection. It is an exquisite collection of rocks formed into beautiful art as a tribute to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To kick off the Douro River Cruise, travelers landed in Lisbon and enjoyed a "Welcome to Portugal" dinner. The next day was filled with exploring Portugal and all it's beauty. From Sintra and the Belem Tower to the Monument of Discoveries and the Jeronimos Monastery, the sites of Portugal did not disappoint.
Next, CorClub members headed to Porto to see the lights of the city, monasteries, churches, railway stations, and more. We even enjoyed a tour of a port wine cellar - tasting included! After, we made our way to Guimaraes, the birthplace of the Portuguese nationality.
At long last, members were off to the Douro River to begin the cruise filled with wonderful views, such as the Crestuma Lock and Regua.
We continued on to Spain with a visit to Salamanca, featuring a guided tour of the Plaza Mayor, historical churches, and the The Casa de las Conchas. The next several days were filled with stops to Ferradosa, Lamego, and more. Each place featuring incredible sites, food, shopping, and culture.
The CorClub Minnesota Trip started with a stop at Spomer Classics in Worthington, MN, where we experienced the sights and sounds of one of the finest automotive collections in the Midwest. Owner, Marv, is incredibly passionate about his collection and shared some very interesting stories about his cars.
Next it was off to the Vikings Museum in Eagan, MN, where even the non-Vikings fans were impressed with the exhibits. After the museum we ended our evening laughing until our stomachs hurt at the very funny, Church Ladies performance.
On our second day we headed to Gertens in Inver Grove Heights, MN, to see their beautiful garden center. We ended the day at the Guthrie Theater seeing the beloved Steel Magnolias production.
