Keeping Busy Through COVID-19: Part One

Miscellaneous

If you are like us, you might be feeling in a slump over ways to stay busy during these times at home. To help, we have compiled a list of ways our team members are keeping life interesting during these unprecedented times. Check out how we're killing boredom while practicing social distancing. Be sure to also check out Part Two featuring additional ways staff are staying entertained.

"We have been creating scavenger hunts around our town. We give our kids clues and then drive around to those spots to see if they can figure it out. This activity gets them excited and gets us out of the house for a while - that's a win-win!"

Heather Sieh, Assistant Vice President/Loan Officer in Aberdeen, SD

"My family and I hid over 300 Easter eggs in the yards of a few of my clients that live near us. It was a fun way to surprise them and got us outside. We have also used this opportunity to teach our kids how to make various meals on their own and do laundry. Let's not forget the many dog walks - we have three of our own, plus a seven-month-old rescued Newfoundland we are fostering."

Chris Bruns, Financial Advisor, RJFS in Sioux Falls, SD

"My daughter has acquired a pen pal from a local nursing home and has started writing letters to her. We also have colored many pictures for the residents there as well. It's our small way of helping put a smile on their faces!"

Kim Hahn, Customer Service Representative in Glencoe, MN

"I've been using this extra time at home to up my cooking game. Instead of preparing the usual recipes on my roster, I've been trying to incorporate new meals into our rotation like fried rice, shrimp pad thai, and of course the whipped coffee drink I've seen all over the Internet!"

Hillary McQuade, VP/Director of Marketing in Sioux Falls, SD

"I am an animal lover, so I have been watching the live video streams at the San Diego Zoo and Monterey Bay Aquarium. They feature apes, koalas, elephants, tigers, coral reef, sea otters, sharks, and so much more. They are so fun to watch - I highly recommend it!"

Dave Hruska, Branch Operations Officer in Mound, MN
