Weight Watchers of Aberdeen

On Sat. June 5th  Weight Watcher’s of Aberdeen donated non-perishable food items to Safe Harbor for their registration fee for the 5K Walk-It Challenge. Over 70 walkers participated in the event to motivate people to move more and set a goal. To support their efforts, WeightWatchers.com provided a variety of training resources- from motivational tips to area walking teams. Walking is a great way to get moving, tone muscles and burn calories. Research has shown that 90% of people who have kept weight off successfully include regular activity in their lives. Becky Randall, CorClub Director,  is the Location Coordinator for the Aberdeen Meetings.

Coyoteopoly a community success!

This spring marks the 12th Coyoteopoly community service project.  Coyoteopoly, the brain child of Dr Gregory Huckabee, Professor at the Beacom School of Business at USD, began in 2004 as a fund raiser and food drive for the Vermillion Community food pantry.  It is now the largest annual donor to the Vermillion Food pantry.

The Spring 2010 group is pictured here donating over $13,000 to the City of Vermillion for banners and other city beautification items.  Jennifer Steele, CorTrust Bank of Vermillion, has been on board as a lender and advisor for the group since its inception.  Each semester she reviews their business plan and meets with the executive team.  CTB assists the group by providing the upfront money to finance the group’s start up costs.  It is a win-win for everyone!

In the 6 years Coyoteopoly has operated, it has raised over $108,000 for charities that interest the local community, and facilitated the donation of over 35,000 food items to the food pantry.

Arlington2010

Arlington named Governor's Community of the Year

Arlington was named the South Dakota 2010 community of the year thanks to the generosity of their own residents and the commitment of the Arlington Community Development Corporation that includes CorTrust Bank's own Doug O'Neil.  Governor Rounds picked Arlington in part because over ten percent of the community has volunteered to help improve economic development in the last year.
